The common frog - Characteristics - 16.04.2007

The common frog (Rana temporaria) is a member of the family of the ranidaes.

Characteristics
A common frog can be up to 11cm long but he is normally about 7cm long. The female frog is normally bigger than the male frog, because they get later in sexual maturity.
The upside can be yellow, red or dark brown coloured. Some frogs have black blotches on the upside.The underside of a male frog is white-grey without blotches. The underside of a female frog is yellow with red coloured blotches.
